SUPREEMO newsletter launched

The SUPREEMO project recently had its first status meeting at the Technical University of Košice in Slovakia, with representatives of REE Minerals taking part.

The EU-backed SUPREEMO project, of which REE Minerals is a key member as the major supplier of raw material, has published its first newsletter. We encourage you to read it and follow the SUPREEMO project!

The project, SUstainable EuroPean Rare Earth Elements production value chain from PriMary Ores – abbreviated as SUPREEMO, brings together 11 leading European participants from industry and academia.

The goal is to ensure the cost-effective and environmentally sustainable supply of rare earth elements to European industries and strategic sectors that currently rely heavily on imports from China.

The SINTEF research institute is the project coordinator, and REE Minerals is the sole supplier of European primary ore, which will come from the Fen field.

Recently, ground was broken for this part of the project: https://www.reeminerals.no/news/ground-broken-for-sample-extraction-at-fen-field

The EU is contributing €7 million to the project under the Horizon Europe framework program, the EU's primary program for research and development.

The project will establish the first sustainable and resilient pre-commercial European rare earth elements value chain. It will demonstrate and validate the production of 50-100 kg of permanent magnet material treated all the way from ores using European resources.
